Vivid Imagery Prompt

Find several images outside of the school walls that motivate you to write a poem. Write a two stanza poem using words that come into your head when thinking of these images. Try to write a well flowing poem using words that are based on the images you have collected throughout the week. Be sure to review the poetry by Sylvia Plath that we have gone over in class. It will help you develop flow and vividness in your words. Good Luck :)

  1. Trains chug by my room,
    Spray-painted blue by a thug
    in a southern state.

    Clickety-clack on
the track. Wish I could jump on,
    fade into the blue.

  2. In the woods, we must be quiet.
    Otherwise they'll hear us.
We can't be as loud as a riot,
or stomp around like a big bus.

I am quiet and about to fall asleep,
but finally I see my deer.
I aim and he falls in a heap.
I could make this a career.

I got my first buck of the season!

  3. That can't be real;
    I can't believe my eyes;
    is it really there?
    Yes! It is!

    The words were made
    undeniable truth
    through chalkmarks on the wall.
    "CROWLEY LIVES."

  4. Bump thwump bump,
    The base beats past.
    Dark night falls,
    Silence?
    Never.

    Click clack click,
    My fingers type so fast.
    Dark night falls,
    Homework?
    Forever.

  5. What will I do?
    Time speeds up its pace.
    STOP!
    Words fall. Thud.
    GO! GO! GO!

    The pace is too fast
    Wobble, jiggle...
    pain.
    My brain relinqushes life...
    Silence.

  6. The leaves are falling
    from the trees;
    blues,
    greens,
    reds.

    Wind will come,
    to blow them away.
    into the air,
    where they won't always stay.

  7. Trees and flowers have died away
    Leaving nothing but dread
I lay my head upon my hands
And wish that I was dead

    Fly away among the clouds
To days of yon gone by
    Sun shines above the Earth
    Beyond the tears and cries

  8. I'm awake as your light shines upon the world,
It's humanities clue to begin their day.
I take a deep breath to taste the clean air
    Before daily life contaminates it.

This is our personal time together,
Before I have to share you with the others.
I cherish this is moment every moring,
As if it's our first time becoming aquaintances.
